Implant Supported Dentures

Are you looking to replace missing teeth? If so, implant supported dentures are an option that you should certainly consider. Advancements in technology have changed the way we work with dentures. Implants  carry many of the benefits associated with traditional dentures, while also including the affordability of classic dentures.

Dentures have long been one of the most cost-effective ways of replacing teeth, however, traditional dentures are riddled with disadvantages. Some of those include:

Reduced Chewing Ability – Conventional dentures are a viable option but there is constantly a chance of them moving around in your mouth. Which restricts your ability to properly process your food.

Jawbone Shrinkage – Missing teeth can cause you to lose bone mass in your jaw, especially when left untreated for an extended period. This could leave you without enough jaw bone mass for a proper dental implant.

Risk of Dentures Falling Out – Conventional dentures use adhesives to hold dentures in place, but those adhesives usually have mixed results. Without a proper anchor, those dentures are constantly at risk of falling out.

With so many disadvantages of traditional dentures, there is no surprise why dental implants have become the most sought-after method of replacing teeth. Though dental implants are a great option, they aren’t in every patient’s budget. That’s where implant supported dentures come into play, as they’re the perfect hybrid of a denture and implant. They incorporate the best of both worlds.

The Process

During the installation of implant supported dentures, our oral surgeon will install four to six titanium implants into the patient’s jawbone. Once installed, a special set of dentures is attached to them. These attached dentures cannot be removed from the patient without the assistance of a dentist.

Some benefits of implant supported dentures include:

Helps to prevent bone loss and promotes gum health

There is no adjustment period
